Dr. Ada Chan

Biography

Ada Sze Chan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at York University in Toronto, Canada. Her research interests lie primarily in Algebraic Combinatorics, focusing on topics such as algebraic graph theory, association schemes, type-II matrices, Jones pairs in spin models, continuous-time quantum walks, and complex Hadamard matrices. Dr. Chan has played a significant role in organizing notable research meetings, including the Workshop on Algebraic Graph Theory and Quantum Information, which took place virtually from August 23-27, 2021, at the Fields Institute, as well as the 2022 Ontario Combinatorics Workshop at the University of Waterloo. She also contributed to the Thematic Program on Graph Theory, Algebraic Combinatorics, and Mathematical Physics at the Centre de recherches mathématiques, and was involved in the Canadian Mathematical Society Winter Meeting in December 2022 held in Toronto. Dr. Chan is enthusiastic about mentoring undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students in combinatorics. Furthermore, she has taught various courses such as Math 4160 in Fall 2022 and Math 1021 during the 2022 Winter semester, whereby she manages course enrollments actively to accommodate students. Additionally, she promotes the Summer Mathematics Preparation Program for incoming students.
