Dr. Ada Leung

Biography

Ada Leung is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta. Her research is primarily focused on the cognitive rehabilitation of individuals affected by various conditions including stroke and traumatic brain injury. She employs a variety of research methodologies, including behavioral neuropsychological tests, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and event-related potentials, to investigate the underlying neural mechanisms of cognitive recovery. Dr. Leung's research aims to enhance treatment strategies that improve cognitive functions such as memory, attention, executive function, and overall occupational performance. She supervises graduate students and encourages those interested in cognitive rehabilitation to reach out to her directly. Dr. Leung has an extensive educational background that includes a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and post-doctoral fellowships focused on cognitive neuroscience at the Rotman Research Institute in Toronto. Her current research includes working memory training and its effects on cognitive functional abilities, showcasing her dedication to advancing the field of occupational therapy and cognitive rehabilitation.
