Professor Dr. Adam Anderson

Biography

Adam Anderson is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Cornell University, where he focuses on the role of emotions in human faculties from psychological, physiological, and neural perspectives. His research is guided by the principle of understanding the function of emotions and employs distinct tools aimed at aiding individuals in understanding their emotional experiences. Anderson leads the Affect Cognition Lab (ACLAB) and is passionate about teaching courses that integrate psychology, neuroscience, and emotion. His courses are designed to use scientific evidence to help students change their views on their emotions and involve them in research on their own physiological experiences. He has contributed significantly to the literature on emotional interactions with cognitive processes and has been involved in various community engagement initiatives, particularly in early education programs in Syracuse, NY. He holds a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from Stanford University and a BA in Cognitive Science from Vassar College. Anderson is actively engaged in departmental and university committees, contributing to the academic community and mentoring students in their research endeavors.
