Biography

Adam works in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton where he is a Clinical Professor of Public Health and the Director of the NIHR Public Health Research Programme. He also serves as the Deputy Director of the NIHR Research Support Service Specialist Centre for Public Health. With a strong focus on public health policy and community involvement research, Adam has extensive experience in the field. Prior to joining the University of Southampton, he was a Senior Policy Fellow at the Health Foundation, contributing to public health policy development. He has also worked as a Public Health Strategy Advisor and Chief Medical Advisor for NHS Test and Trace, as well as the interim Deputy Director for Health Equity at the UK Health Security Agency. Adam studied medicine at Oxford and completed his DPhil in public health economic modelling. He was a Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice during 2017-18. Outside of work, Adam resides in Oxford and enjoys running, cycling, and playing football with his daughters.
