Biography

Adam Buchwald takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding speech and language production mechanisms to help individuals with impairments in these crucial abilities following a stroke. His research includes detailed studies of performance and rehabilitation in neurologically impaired populations with acquired speech and language deficits (such as aphasia and apraxia of speech) and in neurologically intact populations. His work incorporates research methods from disciplines spanning Communication Sciences and Disorders, Neurorehabilitation, Psycholinguistics, Cognitive Science, and Neuroscience. Prior to coming to NYU in 2007, Buchwald completed his Ph.D. in the Department of Cognitive Science at Johns Hopkins University in 2005 and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University.
