Biography

Adam Burak received his Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah in 2019, focusing on the study of uranium oxide reduction in molten lithium chloride-lithium oxide salt. His main research interests encompass electrochemistry, corrosion, molten salts, high-temperature advanced reactor systems, and reactor thermal hydraulics. Following the completion of his Ph.D., Burak has been working in Dr. Xiaodong Sun’s group at the Thermal Hydraulics Laboratory at the University of Michigan, engaging in research related to advanced nuclear reactors, including molten salt reactors and high-temperature gas-cooled reactors. He has developed experimental systems for working with molten salts and a durable reference electrode concept that is compatible with irradiated molten salt systems. Burak possesses a decade of experience in troubleshooting electronics and mechanical systems.
