Biography

Adam Burrows is a Full Professor in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University, where he also serves as the Director of the Princeton Planets Life Certificate Program. He received his undergraduate degree in Physics from Princeton and obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Burrows has made significant contributions to supernova theory, exoplanet and brown dwarf theory, as well as planetary atmospheres and computational astrophysics. His research employs numerical hydrodynamics and radiative transfer methodologies, among others. A recognized pioneer in the theory of exoplanets and brown dwarfs, he has authored numerous influential papers and reviews over his 35-year career and has collaborated with over 250 co-authors on more than 400 papers. Burrows is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has received multiple accolades, including being a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Physical Society. He has held various advisory roles, including serving on NASA's committees related to planetary exploration and astrobiology.
