Biography

Adam Charles is an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University and a member of the Data Science and AI Institute. His research primarily focuses on signal processing, neural imaging, data analysis, machine learning, and their applications. He employs tools for probabilistic low-dimensional modeling to understand the complex computations performed by the human brain. Adam was awarded the National Science Foundation’s CAREER award in 2024. He earned his undergraduate degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Cooper Union in 2009 and went on to receive his PhD in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2015. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins University, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University starting in 2019.
