Biography

Adam Chodobski is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brown University. Born in Warsaw, Poland, he earned his Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Polytechnic University Warsaw and continued his doctoral studies at the Medical School of Warsaw, where he received a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. Following his education, he completed post-doctoral training at the Howard Florey Institute of Experimental Physiology and Medicine in Melbourne, Australia, before joining the faculty at Brown University Medical School in 1995. His research interests focus on the function of blood-brain and blood-cerebrospinal fluid barriers in the context of brain injury and aging. Chodobski has published extensively on the effects of neuropeptides, growth factors, and cytokines on the function of brain barriers, particularly in relation to traumatic brain injury (TBI) and cerebral edema. He has received several grants from the National Institutes of Health to support his research on age-related factors affecting TBI treatment. Chodobski also serves as a mentor for both graduate and undergraduate students and is involved in advising residents in the Neurosurgery Program.
