Dr. Adam Cifu

Biography

Adam Cifu is a Professor of Medicine in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago, where he has been a faculty member since 1997. He completed his M.D. degree at Cornell University Medical College in 1993 and underwent residency training at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Dr. Cifu is a general internist who practices in both inpatient and outpatient settings, emphasizing education and research in his career. He is the author of 140 peer-reviewed publications and has co-authored a textbook titled 'Symptom Diagnosis: Evidence-Based Guide'. Additionally, he has written for a lay audience on medical decision making through his Substack website, 'Sensible Medicine'. His work has focused on various aspects of clinical medicine, including chronic disease management and the prevention of surgical site infections. Dr. Cifu has received numerous awards for his teaching, including the Department of Medicine Award for Clinical Teaching and the Department of Medicine Award for Preclinical Teaching. He is a Distinguished Educator and Mentor and was selected as a Favorite Faculty Member by the graduating class of the Pritzker School of Medicine.
