Dr. Adam Ferris

Biography

Adam Ferris is a Teaching Fellow in Finance at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, where he also is a member of St Cross College. He joined the School in 2025. Adam has a background in Economics, graduating from Toulouse School of Economics, and completed his MSc in Financial Economics at Oxford Saïd. He is currently in the process of finishing his DPhil in Experimental Behavioural Economics at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford. His research predominantly focuses on household decision-making in applied contexts such as groceries, finance, and labor, with a strong emphasis on the role of behavioral economics and experimental methodologies. Adam's papers are in preparation, aligned with his research interests. In addition to his academic role, he is involved with the Institute of New Economic Thinking and works with groups focusing on Economics Sustainability and Sustainable Food. Adam's teaching philosophy emphasizes developing classes that integrate discussion, scenario-based exercises, and visual demonstrations to make complex ideas more accessible, thereby fostering critical-thinking skills among students. He is committed to the pastoral care of his students, providing them with support throughout their time at Oxford. Adam currently teaches in various finance-related courses including BSc Economics Management, MSc Law Finance, and MBA courses on business finance.
