Biography

Adam Fincham is an Adjunct Research Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California. He obtained his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in 1994, specializing in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics. He also earned his M.S.A.E. and B.S.A.E. in Aerospace Engineering from USC in 1991 and 1989 respectively. His research focuses on turbulence and vortex structures in stratified and/or rotating flows, advanced algorithms such as Digital Particle Imaging Velocimetry, 3D Scanning Imaging Velocimetry, and particle dynamics. His work is applied to challenging areas, including oceanic plankton ecosystems, sonic boom interactions with ocean surfaces, and surfing wave dynamics. Fincham has received multiple awards for his academic achievements, including the University International Pre-Doctoral Merit Award in 1992 and various engineering honors during his time at USC.
