Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Adam Frankel. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Adam Frankel completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and French Literature at the University of California at Santa Barbara and his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of California at Los Angeles. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the American Cancer Society, California Institute of Technology. Currently, he is a Professor (Tenure) and Director of the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Degree Program in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC). His teaching primarily focuses on medicinal chemistry, a multidisciplinary field that integrates organic chemistry, biochemistry, computational chemistry, pharmacology, statistics, and biology to understand therapeutic compounds at a molecular level. Frankel’s research group investigates protein arginine N-methyltransferases (PRMTs), exploring their role in gene expression regulation, RNA processing, and DNA damage repair through post-translational modifications. His lab develops assays to quantify PRMT activities in vitro using Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast, requiring a solid foundation in biochemistry, molecular biology, and related fields. He values creativity in problem-solving and fosters excellent communication skills in his trainees.
