Adam Gustafson completed his Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Arts at Ohio University in 2011, focusing on the role music plays in shaping social identities through theatricality and musical performance. He is an active professional musician and music director; as a baritone, he has sung with numerous choirs, including the Bach Week Festival Chorus in Evanston, IL, and has served as a soloist for the Springfield Choral Society in Springfield, IL. He has also worked as a music director and guitarist with regional theater companies throughout the Midwest, such as Bailiwick Theater and the Jedlicka Performing Arts Center in Chicago, IL.
