Dr. Adam Hochman

Biography

Adam Hochman is an Associate Professor at Macquarie University. He completed his PhD in philosophy at the University of Sydney in 2014. In 2015, he began a Research Fellowship at Macquarie University, which became an ongoing position from 2016 until the conclusion of his fellowship in 2018. Hochman's research interests lie in the relationship between proximate evolutionary forms and explanations in biological and psychological contexts. He is particularly focused on the conflations and confusions surrounding 'how' and 'why' explanations. He leads several research projects, including inquiries into the concept of race within social constructionism. His work is recognized within the Macquarie University Centre for Agency, Values, and Ethics, where he serves as the Primary Chief Investigator on multiple ongoing projects.
