Biography

Adam Holzman is an international performing and recording artist known for his exceptional skills on the guitar. He has been described as 'polished and dazzling' by New York critics, and 'brilliant!' by De Gelderlander in Holland, as well as 'masterful!' by the Toronto Star. Holzman has won several major international competitions, including the 1983 Guitar Foundation of America Competition in Quebec, Canada, the Top Prize at the Ninth Concorso Internazionale di Interpretazione di Gargnano in Italy, and a Bronze Medal at the Toronto International Guitar Festival. He has performed at prestigious venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and various distinguished New York venues including Kaufman Hall, 92nd St. Y, Merkin Hall, and Carnegie Recital Hall. His extensive international performances have taken him across Europe, Canada, Mexico, and Central and Latin America. Holzman's recordings under the Naxos label have received critical acclaim, particularly his disc featuring music by Fernando Sor, which was called 'irresistible' by Gramophone Magazine. His recordings also include works by Manuel Ponce and notable releases like Venezuelan Waltzes by Antonio Lauro, which have been hailed as benchmark recordings. Holzman currently teaches Applied Guitar at the Butler School of Music, University of Texas at Austin.
