Biography

Adam Koppel is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Kellogg School of Management, specializing in healthcare. He rejoined Bain Capital in 2016 as Managing Director of Bain Capital Life Sciences, following his initial tenure there since 2003 as a leader in the healthcare sector. Koppel’s career includes significant roles such as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief Strategy Officer at Biogen from 2014 to 2016. He has considerable board experience, sitting on the Boards of Directors for multiple biotech companies including AavantiBio and Aptinyx. His expertise also extends to healthcare innovation through various trustee roles at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Partners Healthcare Innovation. Koppel earned his MD and PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar. He completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude with an AB in History of Science.
