Adam Liston is a Senior Teaching Fellow and Course Director of the MSc Advanced Neuroimaging program at UCL. Trained at the UCL Institute of Education as a Secondary Science Teacher, he combines physics and neuroscience to enhance academic delivery. Adam holds a PhD in Electrical Impedance Tomography of the human brain, with a focus on developing image reconstruction algorithms. He has previously held a postdoctoral position in the Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy at the UCL Institute of Neurology, where he analyzed EEG and fMRI data acquired simultaneously from patients with refractory epilepsy. Since co-directing the MSc Advanced Neurology program alongside Professor Tarek Yousry since its launch in 2008, he has actively sought to innovate and improve course delivery methods, incorporating current trends in education. In 2013, he received the SLMS Innovation Award for introducing a Mini MRI scanner to facilitate student engagement with the course material through Vlogs. In 2016, he won the Provost's Teaching Award for his work on peer-led assessment methods and has been instrumental in expanding the course to include Distance Learning options for students in developing countries. Additionally, Adam is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the UCL Arena.
