Adam Mecca, M.D., Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and the Associate Director of the Yale Alzheimer’s Disease Research Unit. He received his B.S. in Chemistry and Microbiology Cell Science from the University of Florida in 2005 and completed his M.D.-Ph.D. at the same institution, graduating in 2012. Dr. Mecca completed his residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Yale University. His research focuses on Alzheimer’s disease, where he conducts clinical research on potential therapies, collaborating on the development of neuroimaging methods to investigate the neurobiology of the disease. Recent research efforts have involved the creation of a novel positron emission tomography imaging technique to measure the reduction of connections between nerve cells in individuals with Alzheimer's. His goal is to achieve a clearer understanding of Alzheimer’s disease in order to develop effective treatments.
