Biography

Adam Seipp’s research focuses on war, social change, modern Germany, transatlantic relations, and the Holocaust. He is the author and editor of several significant works including 'Ordeal by Peace: Demobilization and the Urban Experience in Britain and Germany, 1917-1921' (2009), 'Strangers in a Wild Place: Refugees, Americans, and a German Town, 1945-1952' (2013), and 'Modern Germany: A Transatlantic Perspective' (with Michael Meng, 2017). His most recent publication, co-authored with John Schuessler and Thomas Sullivan, titled 'The Berlin Airlift: Making the Cold War,' was released in 2022. Currently, he is working on projects that examine the social history of the American military presence in the Federal Republic of Germany between 1945 and 1995, analyzing the roles played by the U.S. military during the final stages and aftermath of the Holocaust and the significance of testimony in shaping narratives surrounding the liberation of concentration camps. His research has appeared in journals such as Central European History, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and Journal of Military History, and has been supported by various esteemed organizations including the Fulbright Program and the German Historical Institute in Washington. He also serves as a DAAD Research Ambassador.
