Dr. Adam Sutherland

Biography

Adam Sutherland is a practicing paediatric pharmacist based at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, specializing in Metabolic Medicine and Intensive Care. He is a member of the Division of Pharmacy and Optometry at the University of Manchester, where he facilitates and develops research projects in the field of paediatric pharmacy practice. In his role, he provides teaching on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and has developed RPS accredited modules for a postgraduate diploma in paediatric pharmacy practice. As an NIHR Clinical Doctoral Research Fellow since September 2018, Adam undertakes doctoral research focused on Medicines Optimisation for Paediatric In-Patients (MOPPEt), a project that aims to understand drug-related problems in hospitalized children through a comprehensive qualitative study across six children's in-patient services in North England. Adam has been active in establishing research partnerships, notably with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Becton, Dickinson UK Limited, contributing to initiatives such as the Making Safer Together (MiST) collaborative study on medicines safety in paediatrics. His previous roles include significant positions in various hospitals and he has been recognized as a Faculty Fellow by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Adam actively engages in contributing to professional conferences and committees, furthering paediatric pharmacy practice in the UK.
