Dr. Adam White

Biography

Adam White is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta. He serves as the Director of the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute and holds a CIFAR AI Chair. His research primarily focuses on Reinforcement Learning and its applications within Artificial Intelligence, showcasing a deep interest in Continual Learning, Robotics, Knowledge Representation, and Intrinsic Motivation. Adam has been instrumental in developing a Reinforcement Learning MOOC on Coursera. He has published extensively in these domains, contributing to the advancement of AI. Adam completed his PhD in Computing Science in 2015, as well as an MSc in 2006, both from the University of Alberta. Prior to this, he earned a BSc in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick in 2004. Over the years, he has taught various courses including AI, Reinforcement Learning, and Machine Learning. His work seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical AI models and practical applications, fostering a new generation of intelligent systems.
