Biography

Adana M. Llanos, PhD, MPH, is a tenured Associate Professor of Epidemiology at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and serves as Co-Leader of the Cancer Population Science (CPS) Program at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. A cancer and molecular epidemiologist, Dr. Llanos's research focuses on understanding the factors that contribute to cancer outcomes disparities and the sociobiological mechanisms that drive health inequities. Her multidisciplinary research program aims to evaluate and mitigate cancer inequities, improve survival outcomes in disproportionately affected populations, and study the health impacts of chemical exposures, particularly related to personal care products, in relation to breast cancer risk. Throughout her career, Dr. Llanos has received numerous accolades for her innovative research, including the Minority Faculty Scholar Award from the American Association for Cancer Research and the CURE Shining Star Award from the National Cancer Institute. She actively engages in public health advocacy, education, and outreach, especially in underserved communities.
