Dr. Adeen Flinker

Biography

Adeen Flinker received a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California at Berkeley. He completed his post-doctoral research at New York University, where he joined the NYU School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Neurology in 2017. Flinker is affiliated with the NYU Neuroscience Institute, NYU Biomedical Engineering, and NYU Cognition and Perception. His lab focuses on electrophysiology of speech perception and production, leveraging behavioral and non-invasive as well as invasive electrophysiological techniques to tackle basic questions in these areas. Flinker's research methodologies include EEG (Electroencephalography) and fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging). The Flinker lab emphasizes collaborative research, particularly with rare neurosurgical patients undergoing treatment for refractory epilepsy. The lab's goal is to further understand how the human cortex supports speech perception and production, providing tools for clinicians to map function prior to surgery.
