Biography

Adel M. Hanna is a Professor in the Building, Civil, and Environmental Engineering Department at Concordia University. He obtained his master's degree from Cairo University in 1972 and completed his Ph.D. at the Technical University of Nova Scotia in 1978. Since joining Concordia University, he has worked on various projects as a geotechnical engineer in both Canada and abroad. His contributions include engineering consultation for foundation design projects and the development of manuals for foundation design. Dr. Hanna has published over 150 technical articles in journals and conference proceedings and has supervised more than 100 master's and doctoral students. He is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a member of several professional societies, including the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering and the Canadian Geotechnical Society. He has served as an external reviewer for grant applications and has held editorial positions in professional journals, contributing significantly to the field of geotechnical engineering, particularly in areas such as soil-structure interaction, bearing capacities, and foundation performance.
