Dr. Adel Mustafa

Biography

Adel Mustafa is a Professor in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at Yale University. He holds a Ph.D. in medical physics from Surrey University in England. His professional career includes faculty positions at Kuwait University School of Medicine and New York Medical College. Currently, he serves as the Chief of Diagnostic Radiology Physics and the Director of the Yale Diagnostic Medical Physics Residency Program. Board certified by the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Medical Physics, Dr. Mustafa has significant expertise in diagnostic imaging physics. He was elected as a Fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and has participated as a member and co-chair on several scientific professional committees. His clinical, teaching, and research interests focus on image quality optimization and radiation dose management across various imaging modalities, with a particular interest in computed tomography (CT). He has led collaborations among medical physicists, radiologists, and clinicians in the optimization of CT detection and quantification. Dr. Mustafa is also involved in multiple international medical physics programs and has contributed to the education of radiology residents and medical physicists.
