Adele Jones is a Research Assistant in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering's Water Research Centre at the University of New South Wales. She completed her PhD in 2010 with a focus on chemical transformations in acid sulfate soils and coastal waters, which included a significant field-based component and helped identify hotspots for successful remediation in the Tweed River area. Her research interests cover a wide array of investigations, particularly the reduction of contaminants in environments, focusing on natural Fe(II)-Fe(III) mineral systems and iron nanoparticles. Currently, Adele is involved in an ARC Special Research Initiative project aimed at developing electrochemically activated sorbents for PFAS defluorination. With a strong background in both contaminant degradation and electrochemistry, stemming from a year-long Swiss Government Postdoctoral Fellowship, she is passionate about remediating contaminated environments. Adele particularly enjoys fieldwork, which combines fundamental and applied research aspects.
