Adhy Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Literatures in English Department and the Asian American Studies Program at Cornell University. Their research is situated at the intersection of Asian and Asian American literary studies, focusing on themes related to Korea, Japan, and diasporas. Adhy’s current book project, Speculative Natural Histories, explores the intertwined and contested relationships between geopolitical realism and literary speculation in post-1945 Northeast Asian and American cultural production. They argue that literature and film can reveal and challenge hegemonic geopolitical narratives found within South Korean, Japanese, and American memoryscapes, including museums, peace parks, eco-reserves, and memorials. Adhy's scholarly interests extend to imperialism, capitalism, and militarism in Asia and the United States, producing transnational multilingual formations in twentieth-century Asian and American literatures. Their work has been published in Comparative Literature Studies and Mosaic, and they have forthcoming contributions to the edited volume Techno-Orientalism II by Rutgers University Press. Additionally, Adhy has translated the novel Blood Bones by Zainichi Korean writer Yang Seok-il, published in 2022.
