Biography

Adit Radhakrishnan joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Department of Mathematics as an Assistant Professor on July 1, 2025. He is also an associate member of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Prior to his current position, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Broad Institute, funded by the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Center, and previously held the George F. Carrier Postdoctoral Fellow position in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at MIT and received both his Master of Engineering and Bachelor's degree in EECS from MIT. His research interests center on understanding the fundamental mathematical principles that drive the success of deep learning techniques. Additionally, he seeks to apply these principles to develop new machine learning algorithms, with a particular focus on biomedical applications. His work includes exploring how neural networks learn data patterns to enhance feature learning capabilities and investigating features learned by Large Language Models (LLMs), which has led to identifying existing vulnerabilities and developing effective safeguards. He collaborates with the Broad Institute to compile a comprehensive catalog of cellular programs that advance the understanding of cellular biology and identify mechanisms of disease.
