Biography

Professor Amekudzi-Kennedy studies complex real-world systems with a focus on integrated built, natural, and social environments. She creates decision support tools to improve infrastructure system performance and enhance community quality of life. Her research currently focuses on the development and application of systems and methods that promote smart and resilient development. Kennedy has authored extensively and developed undergraduate and graduate courses, providing technical support for multiple international, national, state, and local initiatives in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary area. She serves as the primary instructor for the required undergraduate course in Civil and Environmental Engineering Systems and a graduate elective in Infrastructure Systems, addressing proper stewardship of infrastructure for economic advancement and smart development. Professor Kennedy is a co-founder of the Global Engineering Leadership Minor at Georgia Tech and has served on the Board of Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment at the National Research Council, as well as on the Transportation Asset Management Committee of the Transportation Research Board for 10 years. She is a member of the Asset Performance Risk standing committee of the Transportation Research Board, a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and a member of the National Academy of Construction. Outside of her work, Professor Kennedy enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing piano, and painting.
