Biography

Admir Masic is an Associate Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on science-enabled engineering for sustainable construction materials and large-scale infrastructure innovation. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Torino, Italy, obtained in 2006. His research expertise includes biomineralization and the development of multifunctional cement-based materials, such as self-healing concrete and carbon-absorbing concretes. Masic serves as a principal investigator at the Concrete Sustainability Hub at MIT and is a faculty fellow at the Archaeological Materials Program in MIT’s Center for Materials Research in Archaeology and Ethnology (CMRAE). He also directs the Refugee ACTion Hub, which aims to provide new professional content development for displaced learners worldwide.
