Biography

Adrian Ka-Wai Chung's research is primarily focused on probing the physics of gravitational waves, particularly in relation to General Relativity. His work involves studying the strong-field regime by analyzing gravitational-wave signals from compact objects, with a specific emphasis on the ringdown phase of binary black-hole coalescences. Chung has developed a spectral framework called METRICS, which enables precision tests of modified gravity models by computing black-hole quasinormal-mode spectra. His contributions extend to cosmology, where he is involved in developing a stochastic siren method for measuring the Hubble constant. This method seeks to combine information from individually resolved compact-binary signals with the stochastic gravitational-wave background. In addition to these areas, Chung has also explored dark matter and dark sector particles, showcasing a keen interest in diverse aspects of theoretical physics. His significant publications reflect his inquisitive nature and commitment to expanding our understanding of gravitational phenomena.
