Biography

Adrian Florea joined the University of Glasgow in July 2015 as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social and Political Sciences. He has previously taught at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Elon University, and Oberlin College. He specializes in Political Science, particularly focusing on civil wars, ethnic conflict, de facto states, rebel governance, and political violence. His research encompasses the survival and disappearance of de facto states, legitimacy of rebel groups, and functional sovereignty in contested territories. He is currently involved in research projects examining the dynamics of nonstate governance and supervising Ph.D. students on various topics related to self-determination and conflict analysis. Additionally, he holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University, an M.A. from Iowa State University, and a B.A. from the University of Bucharest.
