Biography

Adrian Guta is an Associate Professor at the School of Social Work at the University of Windsor. His research focuses on health disparities and public health, particularly in relation to HIV prevention, treatment, and care. Over the years, Guta has participated in various projects addressing substance use harm reduction and the social structural determinants of health. He is currently co-leading a program aimed at understanding the impact of the toxic drug supply on individuals who use drugs, while advocating for safer supply programs and decriminalization initiatives. His work has attracted funding from prestigious bodies such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and Health Canada. Guta has received multiple awards for his contributions to research, including the Outstanding Faculty Research Award from the University of Windsor and the Research Excellence Award from the Canadian Association for HIV Research.
