Biography

Adrian KC Lee is a professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences, where he also heads the Laboratory for Auditory Brain Sciences & Neuroengineering. His research primarily focuses on mapping the spatiotemporal dynamics of the cortical networks involved in attending to and analyzing acoustical signals in crowded auditory scenes, such as those experienced in a cocktail party. He is particularly interested in combining his engineering and neuroscience backgrounds to identify neural biomarkers that can be used to classify attentional states and to control prosthetic and orthotic devices, as well as in the design of next-generation Brain-Computer Interfaces. Prior to joining the University of Washington, he worked at the Athinoula Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, where he began merging psychoacoustics research with multimodal neuroimaging techniques, including MEG, EEG, and MRI.
