Biography

Adrian Lewis received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from Cambridge University, U.K. He has held faculty positions at the University of Waterloo and Simon Fraser University in Canada before joining Cornell University in 2004. He is a Professor in the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering and served as the Director of the department for a three-year term starting in 2013. His research focuses on nonsmooth optimization and variational analysis. He has authored over 100 refereed publications and a book, and has served as Co-Editor for 'Mathematical Programming'. He has received several awards, including the Aisenstadt Prize in 1995, the Lagrange Prize in 2003, and the Outstanding Paper Prize from SIAM in 2005. He is a SIAM Fellow and was an invited section speaker at the 2014 International Congress of Mathematicians in Seoul.
