Dr. Adrian Streete

Biography

Adrian Streete is a Professor of Early Modern English Literature at the University of Glasgow, where he has been a faculty member since 2014. His research focuses on the relationships between literature, religion, and political thought in the early modern period, particularly from 1500 to 1700. He has authored influential monographs including 'Apocalypse Anti-Catholicism Seventeenth-Century English Drama' (2017) and 'Protestantism Drama Early Modern England' (2009). As an editor, he contributed to 'Early Modern Drama Bible: Contexts Readings, 1570-1625' (2012), and has co-edited several volumes on Renaissance history. Streete's work has explored various themes, including early modern drama, poetry, prose, and the interplay of religious ideologies such as Protestantism and Catholicism. He has received multiple research fellowships for his significant contributions to understanding the role of literature in early modern religious and political culture. A seasoned PhD supervisor, he has successfully guided numerous students in their academic pursuits. In addition to his academic work, he has curated exhibitions and presented at various international conferences, continually engaging with both scholarly and public audiences.
