Dr. Adriana Iamnitchi

Biography

Adriana (Anda) Iamnitchi is a Professor and Chair of Computational Social Sciences in the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences at Maastricht University since August 2021. With a background in computer science, Anda has advanced through the American academic ranks, reaching the position of Full Professor. Her research trajectory encompasses distributed computing, particularly focusing on decentralized management of user data and computational social sciences, which includes modeling information diffusion and identifying patterns in information operations. Anda's research is backed by approximately 3.5 million USD in grants from prestigious organizations, including the National Science Foundation, DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), and the Office of Naval Research, alongside support from various industries. She has received notable recognitions, such as the National Science Foundation Career Award and being named an ACM Distinguished Member. In addition to her research contributions, Anda has served on the technical program committees for many conferences such as HPDC, Supercomputing, WWW, ICWSM, and ICDCS, and has been involved with grant reviewing panels for the National Science Foundation. Currently, she serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems and for the journal Online Social Networks and Media published by Elsevier.
