Biography

Adriana Lacerda completed her Ph.D. at the Université de Montréal, in the biomedical sciences program with a specialization in Audiology in 2007. She holds a professional training in Audiology, with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Tuiuti University of Paraná, Brazil, and a Master’s degree in Communication Disorders. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at the School of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology within the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal. Her research and teaching focus on optimizing psychosocial variables such as quality of life, social participation, health service quality, and the promotion and prevention in audiology, particularly addressing issues related to ageism, stigma surrounding hearing loss, and early detection/prevention of age-related hearing loss. She leads the Laboratory in Hearing and Aging at the Research Center of the Université de Montréal Geriatric Institute.
