Biography

Adrien Rannaud is an Associate Professor in the Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga. His research focuses on literary cultural history in Quebec from the 19th to 20th century, specifically women’s writing, cultural practices, the history of media culture, celebrity studies, and middlebrow culture. Rannaud's notable book, 'De l'amour et de l'audace: Femmes et roman au Québec dans les années 1930,' was awarded the Gabrielle-Roy Prize in 2018. He is currently working on a SSHRC-funded project encompassing celebrity culture and press in Quebec. Rannaud is also a member of the Groupe de recherches et d’études sur le livre au Québec (GRÉLQ) and serves as the Managing Editor of the scholarly journal Arborescences. He has published extensively on Quebec literature and has received various grants, including the SSHRC Connection Grant and Insight Grant for projects related to press and celebrity culture. His teaching and research interests include Québec literature, literary cultural history, women’s writing, cultural practices, and the interplay of middlebrow culture with popular culture.
