Biography

Adrienne Allen earned a Psy.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Hartford in 2015 and completed postdoctoral training at the Institute of Living's Schizophrenia Rehabilitation Program inpatient service. Currently, she serves as the Director of the Connecticut Mental Health Center's Young Adult Services program and Co-Director of the West Haven Mental Health Clinic, providing trauma-informed care to young adults with serious mental illness. Her primary focus is on delivering trauma-sensitive behavioral interventions for clients residing in residential transitional housing programs in the New Haven area. Dr. Allen supervises predoctoral and postdoctoral psychology fellows and provides clinical intervention training for professional staff, trainees, and residential care teams. Her main research interest encompasses treating trauma patients, particularly those within the schizophrenia spectrum disorders and severe persistent mental illnesses. Dr. Allen is a strong advocate for the recovery movement and is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA).
