Biography

Adron Harris has over 35 years of experience in the field of alcoholism research, focusing on understanding the molecular mechanisms of alcohol and its effects on ligand-gated ion channels. His team's research encompasses genomics, behavior, epigenetics, systems biology, and bioinformatics. Overall, Harris' work combines functional, structural, behavioral, and genomic approaches to define the sites of alcohol action. As a faculty member, he has mentored more than 20 graduate students who earned Ph.D. degrees and 49 postdoctoral fellows, many of whom are now faculty members starting their careers. He also serves as the Principal Investigator and director of an INIA PI consortium, with the primary objective of identifying drugs for alcohol addiction through late-phase clinical trials for existing FDA-approved purposes.
