Biography

Aekta Patel is the Global Head of the Venture Capital Unit at the Department for International Trade (DIT) in the United Kingdom. In this role, she leads a large team that attracts overseas investment from Corporate VC Funds, Sovereign Wealth Funds, and British Venture Funds to support high growth potential companies in the UK. Over the past eight years, her team has successfully attracted more than £1 billion in investment to the UK. Before her time in DIT, Aekta worked in the Cabinet Office closely with Number 10 Ministers, leading initiatives to grow social investment in the UK and improve the efficiency of government departments. Prior to joining the Civil Service, she spent several years as a Management Consultant at Accenture, followed by a year in Deutsche Bank’s global strategy team, reporting directly to the COO. In 2012, Aekta was selected for Management Today’s “35 Women Under 35” list and was recognized in the Timewise Power List 2021 for her ability to continue her high-profile role on a part-time basis.
