Biography

Afsheen Lakhani is a Clinical Associate Professor at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. She received her D.M.D. from the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2006 and completed an Advanced Education residency in General Dentistry. Her passion lies in direct patient care and academia, currently serving as a restorative dentist at the BU Dental Health Center. She holds the position of Practice Leader at the Pre-doctoral Treatment Center, where she teaches pre-doctoral students. Lakhani is actively involved in the Admissions Committee and the Continuing Education Advisory Committee at BUGSDM, and has conducted CE courses. Additionally, she serves as a CAD/CAM mentor for the Dental Assistant Training program and the International Preceptorship program. Lakhani is involved in research projects exploring the impact of COVID-19 on dental education, as well as peer mentoring for professional development of dental students. She has participated in significant leadership programs, including the ADEA Leadership Institute class of 2021, and has completed a year-long Women's Leadership program, receiving a Scholarship for the Advancement of Women Faculty in Clinical Professions in 2019. Lakhani has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and is recognized for her contributions in digital clinical workflows. She is also the Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs for the American Dental Education Association.
