Agatha de Boer is a Professor of Physical Paleoceanography at Stockholm University. Her research primarily focuses on the dynamics of large-scale ocean circulation and its interactions with climate over geological timescales. Specific topics of interest include the driving forces behind the state of deep ocean circulation during the Cenozoic Era, which spans the last 66 million years, and the role of climate in these processes. De Boer investigates the dynamics of inflows and outflows of Arctic Straits, their impact on sea ice, and how they affect global ocean circulation and past climate. She also studies the interaction of fronts, wind, and topography of sea-ice in the Southern Ocean, as well as Quaternary glacial cycles from the last 2.6 million years. Her work often involves collaboration with observationalists and paleoceanographers to address complex theoretical problems. Additionally, she holds key leadership roles such as Deputy Head of the Department of Geological Sciences and is a board member of the Bolin Centre for Climate Research.
Includes Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Sustainable Chemistry.
