Biography

Agnes Yu is an LSE Fellow in the Department of Government, specializing in Global Politics. Her current research focuses on how individuals conceptualize the linkages between international and domestic politics, specifically examining instances of individuals protesting on behalf of populations and the political contexts in which these protests occur. Yu investigates the dynamics of protest participation, particularly how it is influenced or constrained by perceptions of international and domestic political landscapes. Her comparative research spans several countries, including Poland, Chile, and Japan, and employs various methodologies such as surveys, interviews, and participatory fieldwork. Additionally, she is interested in the ethical considerations arising from utilizing large-scale conflict data and measuring constructs like 'fear' within conflict research. Her PhD work was conducted at the LSE Department of International Relations under the supervision of Dr. Milli Lake and Prof. Phillip Ayoub from University College London. Yu holds an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Toronto.
