Dr. Agnieszka Kanas

Biography

Agnieszka Kanas is an Associate Professor at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her research primarily explores stratification and social inequality, with a specific focus on the economic disadvantage and integration of immigrants. She examines how individual resources and institutional contexts at both national and local levels interact to shape ethnic and gender inequalities in European labor markets. Additionally, her work investigates the disparities in access to labor market policy measures and their implications for inequality. Kanas employs quasi-experimental designs to estimate the causal effects of specific policy interventions on the integration outcomes of recent immigrants in Europe. Alongside her research, she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on public policy, migration, integration, and social inequalities.
