Biography

Dr. Agus Sasmito is a tenured Associate Professor in the Mining and Materials Engineering Department at McGill University. With interdisciplinary backgrounds encompassing a bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Sasmito’s research and educational efforts focus on advanced multiphysics systems for sustainable minerals and energy extraction. He has established the McGill Multiphysics Laboratory, with research spanning a wide range of scientific and technological developments related to ventilation, heating, cooling, freezing drying, geo-energy, thermal energy storage, artificial ground freezing, slurry, paste particulate flow, and rock-microwave multiphysics modeling for mining and mineral energy extraction engineering. Dr. Sasmito has supervised 70 graduate students at both the master's and doctoral levels, as well as postdoctoral associates, and has published over 200 refereed journal papers and more than 100 peer-reviewed conference proceedings. He has served as an editor for the Canadian Institute of Mining Journal and as an associate editor for the journals Drying Technology and Heat and Mass Transfer.
