Biography

Aharon Kapitulnik is a faculty member at Stanford University focusing on the discovery and understanding of the nature, causes, and consequences of emergent behavior in strongly correlated quantum materials, with a particular emphasis on superconductivity and magnetism. He specializes in low-dimensional systems and topological states, exploring the effects of disorder. His work involves fabricating samples and devices by collaborating with world-leading laboratories to obtain the highest quality materials. Kapitulnik employs a wide range of experimental techniques, including transport, thermodynamic, optical, and magnetic studies. His laboratory utilizes advanced probing methods such as scanning tunneling microscopy spectroscopy, high-resolution magneto-optics, photothermal microscopy, and ultra-sensitive torque magnetometry to investigate the fundamental physics of quantum materials.
