Biography

Ahmad Afsahi received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria, BC, in 2000, and M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and Shiraz University, respectively. He has been a faculty member at Queen's University since 2000, currently holding the rank of Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His main research activities focus on parallel processing systems, high-performance computing, and communication runtime system software, which includes heterogeneous accelerated computing and parallel programming models such as MPI, OpenMP, and CUDA. Afsahi is an active member of the research community, contributing to the Parallel Processing Research Laboratory and participating in various academic conferences as a TPC member. His research has earned him several accolades, including the Canada Foundation Innovation Award and the Ontario Innovation Trust Award. He is also a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of the ACM.
